World book day 2021
We have been going Wild about books at Fledgelings Preschool to celebrate World Book Day 2021. Although we entered into the spirit we absolutely love books all day everyday, the words, the pictures and the magic they bring.
Bird feeders
Thank you so much Hall Farm Wild Bird Supplies for our seed, pine cones and activity packs for the children at Fledgelings during our week of learning about birds. Our feeders are hanging in our Fledgelings garden and we've taken some home too .
Body shop party
On a cold January evening one of our fantastic committee members hosted a body shop party online which raised an amazing £170 for Fledgelings Pre-School. What a brilliant, feel good way to raise money! We will keep you posted about the next event.

Our fantastic Pre-School is looking to recruit a qualified Level 3 practitioner to join our thriving team in a great village setting. We are looking for an experienced practitioner with a professional attitude, passion and the ability to think outside the box in order to deliver the very highest standard of provision. You understand how fundamentally important the Early Years are and want to be part of making our children be the best they can be.
Working a part of a dedicated team with shared responsibilities this is a part time, term time position with days and hours to be agreed - there is a degree of flexibility for the right candidate.
We are committed to safeguarding children and because of the nature of this post, it is subject to an enhanced DBS check. We are adhering to all current Health and Safety and Government guidelines with regards to Covid19 within our recruitment and interviewing arrangements.

We are so grateful to everybody who has selected Fledgelings Pre-School as their chosen charity. Every time a member spends in store and swipes their membership card at the till 1% is donated to a charity of your choice. We have raised just over £1,200 so far and it will make a huge difference to the pre-school. We will update you soon on what we have chosen to use the funds for. Fledgelings pre-school could not do what it does without the generousity of the caring community so we thank you so much for all of your support!

Water fun
The guttering began to overflow with the heavy rain downpour and we loved it!! The children tried to catch the water, running to the mud kitchen to fetch different sized containers, they negotiated who was able to put their bowl higher and looked who had collected the most water! So simple but so much learning, laughing and splashing in our great outdoor area.
Fantastic Fledgelings...a heartfelt thanks to you!
A special blend of colourful fun and good cheer graced our local streets recently! There were smiles and a few tears, when families in Laneham and the surrounding area whose children are moving up from Fledgelings Preschool, were treated to a visit from the team.
The happy tribe came from their base at Dunham on Trent colourfully dressed and in cars adorned with balloons and good luck banners, as a special message to their ‘Fledgelings class of 2020’. When they arrived at each home they presented bundles of gifts to their Lockdown Leavers - from specially-made teddy bears to a scrapbook of the child’s time at Fledgelings, nothing was forgotten. The gift bags even included a hand-crafted farewell card to open now and a good luck card to be opened on the child’s first day at big school.
This was no ordinary door drop. Given that this is a strange time and a new chapter awaits our big school starters, the kindness, joy and sparkle Kate and her team brought to our doorstep was extremely touching. They went the extra mile - literally - touring round the houses for these special deliveries. It was a day of well-wishes, memories and socially-distanced love shared between us.
This wonderful gesture is just one of the ways Fledgelings has brought something special to our little ones during their time there. From Mother’s Day gifts to half-term events, from day trips to Christmas parties, not to mention the daily array of activities combining fun and learning. There is a genuine care for the children and their families - a commitment to their well-being, development and making lives brighter!
Fledgelings is truly fantastic. There is so much more than meets the eye when you drive past the premises, too, as it not only provides a wonderful environment inside, but also two great outdoor spaces. The front garden is lawned and features wildlife areas for interaction with nature while at the rear is a hidden paradise of outdoor fun.
I have also been so happy with the use of an online journal where they have shared my son’s learning and activity ideas. The care in the unprecedented time of lockdown has also been top rate. There were lots of tips and resources shared online or in the post. There was even the beautiful surprise of flower seeds and a supportive poem through our door. These special people have not just coped with the challenges, they’ve gone above and beyond to make a time of uncertainty very positive and loving.
All in all - our little Fledgelings really have had the very best as they’ve grown and flourished. My heartfelt thanks go to Kate, Jane and the entire team!
